Dear Fellow Golfer, Like most doctors, I love golf; over the years it's actually become quite a stereotype. Like you, golf is one of my great passions in life. There is nothing like ripping a drive straight down the fairway or hitting a crisp iron onto the green in regulation. My love for the game started when I was about 13 years old. I grew up in South Africa - you know that great golfing nation to produce players like Gary Player, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Trevor Immelman, and Nick Price, and more. I grew up with my two best friends who were nuts about golf, and it didn't take me long to be fanatical about golf as well. We would always be talking about golf, how the greens were holding, and the next golf comps that were coming up, the latest steel head drivers to come out, etc... We would stay up late to watch The Masters and other majors (because of the time zones). I remember Jack winning in 1986, Larry Mize chipping in against Greg Norman, and Nick Faldo winner back-to-back Masters. I guess I am giving away my age now. When I was in my early twenties I was trying to figure out what I should do with my life. At the time I was working at an insurance company, and hating it. I really wanted to do something I loved and was passionate about. I was always interested in the human body and ever since I first went to my chiropractor after a sports related injury. I always used to look at peoples posture, how they walked and moved. So I decided to come to the States to study chiropractic medicine. I came with two suitcases and dreams of helping people improve their health. While I was at chiropractic school I studied many different chiropractic techniques of realigning the spine and bringing the body back into balance. My wife's mother had great results with this little known and highly specialized approach, called NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association), you may have heard about it on Good Morning America and how the NUCCA technique also was found to lower blood pressure. I started studying the chiropractic technique called NUCCA and looked at the types of doctors practicing it; they were all of high integrity and achieving phenomenal results. So this is the predominant approach I use for myself, my family, my golfers and patients, to bring the body into balance for optimum health and function. After being in practice for a couple of years, I wanted to bring my two passions closer together, those being golf and chiropractic. So I have brought my two specialties together: knowledge of body mechanics and swing mechanics to specialize in golf-specific conditioning and sports injuries. Sincerely, Dr. Thor Mongie Chiropractic Physician NUCCA Practitioner Golf Conditioning and Sports Injuries Specialist
So How Can I Help You With Your Goals of:Hitting The Ball Further More Powerful Golf Shots Lowering Your Scores Reducing Pain & Injuries Improving Swing BiomechanicsBefore answering this, first I need to ask what your goals are? What would you want to achieve? For some it may be to break 100, 90, Par, or win more competitions as a pro. I work with many levels of golfers and customize my treatment to their goals. You may want help with elbow or shoulder pain that is stopping you from playing the phenomenal golf that you know you can play. Or you may want more flexibility to get your body into the correct swing positions to take your game to the next level. So when you decide to come in for your Golf Conditioning and Injury Evaluation, it's important to know what your golf and health goals are so that we can work together to develop a customized plan to address your needs.
Why do golfers get injured? I thought it was an old man's sport!!!I will reveal to you the facts of the golf swing and after that you will see for yourself why it isn't an old man's sport. Amateur golfers achieve approximately 90% of their peak muscular activity when driving a golf ball. This is the same intensity as picking up a weight that can only be lifted 4 times before total fatigue. This level of exertion and muscular activation equates golf with such sports as football, hockey and martial arts. The difference is that other athletes outside of golf include conditioning as an integral part of their preparation before play. --- Paul Chek: The Golf Biomechanics Manual.
Very few golfers attempt any conditioning at all. Is it any wonder there are so many golf related injuries?
The golf swing requires the spine to rotate, bend, laterally flex and extend. This requires flexibility that is Golf-Specific.I will soon reveal to you the 4 Root Causes of Golfing injuries, but first some golf facts:
1.The Golf swing exerts 6 times the force of gravity on the spine. 2. For Amateur Golfers: Almost 70% of all golf injuries are either Low Back or Elbow. 3. For Professional Golfers: About 35% of golf injuries are Hands/Wrists, and 20% are Low Back. 4. Club head speed is directly proportional to the width and length of the swing arc. The width and length of the swing arc is directly proportional to patient's flexibility. 5. Using the left arm as a hand on an imaginary clock face, consider the following using a driver: Left arm swings back to 9pm = this generates 85 mph of club head speed = 200 yards of carry Left arm swings back to 10pm = this generates 110 mph of club head speed = 225 yards of carry Left arm swings back to 11pm = this generates 115 mph of club head speed = 240 yards of carry Left arm swings back to 12pm = this generates 125 mph of club head speed = 270 yards of carry
What this all means, is that the greater your flexibility in your golf swing the further you will hit the golf ball. So you need to INCREASE YOUR FLEXIBILITY to improve your game. So how do you do that, I will reveal that in a minute but first those causes of all golf injuries.. Here are 4 Root Causes of all Golf Injuries:
1. Postural Instability2. Lack of Flexibility3. Poor Swing Mechanics4. Spinal Misalignment So to find out if you have any of these 4 Root Causes of Golf Injuries and to improve Golf Conditioning you would require a Golf-Specific Evaluation. It is not my job to teach the golf swing, even though I know it well; but it is my responsibility to identify the biomechanical movement and cause of golf and sports injuries. It will also be my responsibility to help you re-route your swing path to prevent further injuries if needed. My Golf-Specific Evaluation for Golf Conditioning and Injuries is scientific, precise and uses the latest technology. It shows me what is causing the problem and how to correct the problem. If you have read up to this point you must be very interested in what I have to say and you find the information valuable.I have helped hundreds of patients and golfers bring their bodies back into balance and restore their health. Here is one of many testimonials in my office, the bottom line is results.
Last week I shot a 76 and my USGA handicap is now 7.5! Four years ago I couldn't finish nine holes of golf and I was a 15 handicap. I attribute a lot of this to the treatment and overall wellness philosophy that I have learned from Dr. Thor Mongie. My initial diagnosis and treatments began about three years ago and I began to notice an immediate change in my game. Because I was no longer in a lot of pain, golf became fun again. I became more consistent and developed more distance both off the tee and with my irons. The best part of all of this is that I had resigned myself to the fact that my game was on a steady decline. Now my goal is a 5 handicap and five rounds in the 70s this summer!" --- Stephen, Age 40, Provo, Utah
Whenever I receive a NUCCA chiropractic adjustment I feel more balanced, my eye-hand co-ordination is better, and have less muscle tension. Find that my golf game is extremely sharp. When my golf game goes off I know I need to get adjusted. --- Patrick, Age 36, Las Vegas, Nevada

Ok, Dr. Mongie All This Sounds Great But How Much Is It Going To Cost Me?First let me say that cost is ALWAYS relative. Let me ask you this what would this evaluation be worth if it gave you the answers you were looking for and solved your pain and swing problems forever? Remember that new driver you just bought for $499.00. How much did it really help your swing? Also, remember that the average driving distance hasn't increased over 200 yards in the last 20 years even with those enormous and fabulous 460cc drivers. Why is that?
