We all know that whole wheat is far superior to white bread. Two recent studies have show just how beneficial eating a single serving of whole wheat can be.
One study that looked at 31,208 California Seventh Day Adventists found that those who ate whole wheat bread compared to white bread had a 50% reduction in risk of CHD (congestive heart disease). Another study, the Nurses Health Study, found that one serving of whole grain product each day reduced the risk of CHD by 66%.
Whole grains have also proven to be beneficial in many other areas such as prevention of hyperlipidemia, hypertension, diabetes, colon and breast cancer, gastric ulcers and weight maintenance.
